How to apply at the GW Neurology Residency Program

Required Materials
The National Residency Matching Program provides for a separate matching process for each program. All applications are processed through ERAS. (See ERAS Applicant Information Sheet.) The following is required of all candidates:
•Dean’s letter and medical school transcript. These items should be obtained from the dean of your medical school with a request to forward the material to the appropriate program director(s).
•A minimum of two other letters of recommendation from members of the faculty of your medical school. For applicants from schools with pass/fail grading systems, one of these letters should be from the chairman of the department of medicine.
•A brief personal statement.
Requirements:
Residents must have at least one postgraduate year of full-time training in internal medicine. Preliminary year positions in internal medicine are available at the George Washington University Medical Center, but separate applications must be made to the Medicine program.
Interviews:
Personal Interviews for each candidate are required. Interview dates range from November to January. After review of their application interviews will be offered to select candidates.
International Medical Graduates:
You must include copies of your USMLE Step I and Step II score reports and a copy of your valid ECFMG or CSA certificate. The George Washington University Office of Graduate Medical Education is an approved sponsor of the Exchange Visitor Visa Program (the J1 Visa). As such, we fully support the application of any medical resident through the J1 visa process. We do not sponsor H1 visas.
